Through your donations, we were able to furnish Noraida with:

– Freezer
– Gas Stove
– Gas Cylinders
– A mobile stall with wheels
– A Marketing Banner
– Table and Chair
– Cooking Utensils

She went from being completely dependent to earning a monthly income of RM400. Through the training provided, she is also using social media (Facebook & Instagram) to expand her business.

Noraida binti Abdul Ghani is a 32 year old single mother who lives in Kuching, Sarawak. She is a mother of three children ages two, three and seven years respectively. As a victim of marital abuse, she is now in the process of finalizing a divorce with her husband. Unfortunately, all of her kids are under the custody of her husband. Seeing the sensitivity of the matter, Noraida is not living with her husband any more. She is living temporarily at a Transit Centre in Anjung Singgah Kuching Sarawak owned by the National Welfare Foundation, Malaysia.

Currently, Noraida is working two jobs just to barely survive and make ends meet. She works as a cook at Tabika KEMAS where manages to earn around RM500.00 per month. After this Noraida works part time at a laundry center and adds RM200.00 to her monthly income. After all this hardwork and struggle, she manages to make only RM700.00 a month. As of today, Noraida has never received any support from any of the aid agencies in Malaysia.

Noraida deserves the support of the community to empower herself and lead a better life.

With a divorce looming ahead of her, things look very gloomy and not so promising for Noraida. To regain custody of her children and and work as a single mother, Noraida needs to become financially stable.

To facilitate this, taking into account her extensive experience as a cook, Noraida is being advised by the foundation to put her skills to use and start a small business in the Malaysian food and beverage industry. The donations from this campaign will support in laying the foundations for this business.

The donations will be used to get the following items:

  • – Freezer
  • – Gas Stove and tanks
  • – A mobile stall with wheels
  • – A Banner
  • – Tables and Chairs
  • – Frozen food (fried popiah rolls)
  • – Cooking Utensils
  • – Cooking Ingredients

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: It is better for one among you to bring a load of firewood on his back and give charity out of it (and satisfy his own need) and be independent of people, than that he should beg from people, whether they give him anything or refuse him. Verily the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin (charity) with your dependants. [Muslim]

Noraida is a living example of the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ regarding those who try to work to earn a Halal and respectable income instead of begging others. At GlobalSadaqah our mission is to empower such people so that they go from becoming beneficiaries to benefactors themselves. This is the core of our mission to Circulate Good.

Even the smallest of donations count. The donations from this campaign not only help Noraida set up a decent business but will also help stabilize a family going through a very tough time  Don’t let the numbers stop you for Allah loves all those who give and help remove a difficulty of a fellow Muslim.
