Nigeria is a country where almost 80% of the population earn less than $2 a day and over 40% of children do not have access to primary education.
When people think of Nigeria, the first thing that comes to the mind are scams and phishing. Because of the evil actions of a few, many of our deserving brothers and sisters in Nigeria are missing out on our help and support.
GlobalSadaqah.com has stepped in and joined hands with An-Nadaa Educational Foundation which is the first government certified Muslim organization on the ground to make a change for the poor and needy Muslims in Zaria, Nigeria.
Ā
Who is An-Nadaa?
An-Nadaa Educational Foundation is an Islamic non-profit organization actively involved in launching and managing educational, daāwah and welfare projects across underprivileged communities in Nigeria.
An-Nadaa is a non-profit that has managed to reach out and help a huge segment of the underprivileged Muslim communities in and around Zaria city, Nigeria through their welfare projects. Their projects include:
Financial Aid
Food Distribution
Building of Masajid
Schools and Islamic Centers
Digging of Wells
Providing Authentic Islamic Education
All of these projects have been possible only through the generous donations from world over. If the support remains strong, An-Nadaa plans to expand their projects to include hospitals focusing on dedicated facilities for women. These facilities would create safe space for women and allows them to seek treatment from trusted female personnels, providing comfort and care in a Shariah compliant space.
An-Nadaa has had a stellar track-record on their Launchgood campaign for their Udhiyah and Well Building Campaigns where they overshot their target amount.
Ā
Donor Support
An-Nadaaās generous donors have raised up to aid with any project they were called upon for.
Aim: 7 Wells
Raised: 18 Wells
Aim: 10-16 Cows for Udiya
Raised: 42 Cows for Udhiya
Any donations given for projects are dedicated for solely that project only as a strict rule. An-Nadaa places a huge level of importance on the amanah (trust) placed with them and do not redirect or use the funds for anything other than what the donation was made.
ALL these Projects are in Danger of being DiscontinuedĀ
All of these projects have been widely welcomed, appreciated by the locals and have had a huge impact in enhancing the Muslim communities in and around Zaria.
The main costs incurred are the operational expenses for running these projects. As of now the only funds available for covering these costs are from the general donations received. These donations are fluctuating from month to month. At times An-Nadaa is not even able to pay the salaries of its staff on time. This has led to the loss of several qualified, and much needed, educators who require a consistent source of income to dedicate themselves completely to teaching, welfare projects and dawah activities.
An-Nadaa after consultation with the experts in the financial field have started working on setting up an LPG filling station. The income from this filling station will be completely utilized by An-Nadaa which should suffice An-Nadaa for its operational expenses and projects thus removing their dependency on donations.
Fund raised by this Waqf will channel funds to many secondary projects like water wells, construction of mosques, educational institutions and medical facilities.
There are 3 phases of the Waqf project: Phase I Status: Completed Planning and obtaining approvals from appropriate government departments. Phase II Status: Completed Cost: USD $100,000 Ordering equipment for the LPG Filing station. This phase cost 100,000 USD. The material has already been ordered and delivery has been received.
Phase III Status: Ongoing Cost: USD $100,000 (Approximately) Ā The construction of the facilities and ancillary buildings required to operate the LPG filling plant.
Ā
The Waqf is in its final stages. The need for a waqf is critical and it is not just another mere project. Islamic teachings show us that waqf is one of the best investments for our akhirah where we continue to gain rewards centuries after we have departed this world.
By helping establish this Waqf, our donors have the unique opportunity for being of the very first people to help their Muslim brothers and sisters directly on the ground in Nigeria. Itās not just about the quantity of the donation. The main aim is the quality of our donations and being a part of establishing a waqf for the sake of Allah.
