About Wan Kamariah

Mrs. Wan Kamariah is a mother of 10, who lives in Terengganu.

–Ā  Her son was diagnosed withĀ  a disability because of which he is a slow learner.
– Her husband suffers from severe gout disease because of which he has not been able to work and provide for the family properly.
– Wan earns around RM 800.00 per month depending on the sales at her food stall.Ā

Story

Wan Kamariah has been trying to earn a living by selling traditional Malay food and kuih muih to support her family. She is assisted by her husband who helps with food delivery, cooking, preparing and packaging the food. Despite working day and night to sell as many as possible, she still falls short of money to meet her basic needs every moth. Because of a sever gout problem and age, her husband hasn’t been able to provide for the family.Ā

A major source of worry and concern for Wan Kamariah is her son, who has been diagnosed with a slow learning disability. With this constant worry plaguing Wan, she goes about working everyday to provide for her family.

Her son still needs follow-up treatment every two or three months at the Hospital USM Kubang Kerian. The required treatment costs an estimated RM 100 to RM 150. Wan saves to make sure she can take her son for this treatment while foregoing some of her own needs.

The Solution

Due to such a tight financial strain and a mountain of responsibility on her shoulder, Wan is determined to become an independent business lady who doesn’t have to depend on the scrapes of others. To empower herself, she plans on starting and running her own small scale food based business.

Through your donations to this campaign, Wan will have the opportunity to expand her food business further. It will help her to buy better tools, more raw material and equipment to increase her daily output and satisfy her customer demand so that they return to her for more business.

She will buy a chiller, which will be used to temporarily preserve the raw materials and the dough.

The donations to this campaign will be used to cover the business expenses instead of taking from her daily income. The donations will provide her the cushion to use her income to take care of the daily expenses of her children instead.

To make sure that your donations reach their maximum potential, Wan will undergo a special training course that will help teach and enhance his skills in running a business.Ā

This includes:

ā€“ Cooking Courses

The Messenger of Allah ļ·ŗ said:

It is better for one among you to bring a load of firewood on his back and give charity out of it (and satisfy his own need) and be independent of people, than that he should beg from people, whether they give him anything or refuse him.

Verily the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin (charity) with your dependents.

[Muslim]

Wan Kamariah hopes that after all the struggle she has to go through daily, she can provide for her children a chance at education without having to worry about poverty and daily expenses.

She hopes that when her children have completed their studies, they will become the pillars to support the family. As a mother, she is trying her best to support and meet all the necessary costs so that her children can focus on their studies properly. Such dedication is highly commendable and should be supported by us.

Wan is a living example of the hadith of the Prophet ļ·ŗ regarding those who try to work to earn a Halal and respectable income instead of begging others. At GlobalSadaqah our mission is to empower such people so that they go from becoming beneficiaries to benefactors themselves. This is the core of our mission to Circulate Good.

Even the smallest of donations count.Ā Allah loves all those who give and help remove a difficulty of a fellow Muslim.Ā The donations from this campaign not only help Wan set up a decent business but will also help stabilize a family.Ā
