Campaign Story

What is Vocational Training?

Vocational educationĀ is defined asĀ trainingĀ for a specificĀ vocation in industry or agriculture or trade. It uses various forms of formal, non-formal and informal learning. Also, it is important for social equality, inclusion and sustainable development

For many weaker sections of the society, schooling is very expensive, and a lot of students may not be able to afford it till the end.Ā

Vocational training helps grant access to practical education that the industry wants, and then employment, meaning better livelihood and fewer crime rates and drug abuses by the youth.Ā It also saves the employing company a lot of money and time seeing as they do not need on-job-training, unlike college graduates. Since the learners specialize in specific areas, they concentrate on that sub-discipline and learn as much as possible.Ā This way, they become experts in that particular area and gain useful knowledge.Ā They are known to deliver quality performance and good results.

Why Al-Tarmidhi Center?

Al-Tarmidhi Center for Vocational and Hospitality (ATCVH) was established in 2014 in the Chroymetrey Village of Cambodia.

ATCVH is lead by Mr Meas Sokeo with the assistance of 4 instructors and trainers for various courses which include English, information technology (IT), electrical wiring and air conditioning skill-sets. ATCVH can accept up to 50 students for each batch.

The Center is working towards:

1.Ā To provide equal opportunity for employment and livelihood.

2.Ā Physical access to quality skills development institutions and job markets.

3.Ā Availability of skill development at a nominal price or an on an unpaid basis to the underprivileged or marginalized youth.

The goal of this school is to create the foundation for a viable economic and social future for the people and connect these young leaders of tomorrow with opportunities to learn, equip, and empower themselves.

Success Story: Math Idrees

Math Idrees is a 25 years old technician who graduated from Al-Tarmidhi Vocational Center in early 2016 as part of their second batch.

He comes from a very poor family in the Muslim community of the Masinsrov village. He has 10 siblings which meant that he had to find a job immediately to take care of his family.

Math performed well both theory and practical course during the training.Ā He was sent by the Center to O Media Co. Ltd. for a job interview.

Alhamdulilah, he passed the interview as an assistant for air conditioning service maintenance. He got a salary of USD 150 along with USD 1.50 for daily lunch allowance.

Ā Due to his hard work, practical training, and dedication, he was then promoted to service maintenance executive in the company with the salary of USD 180. He ended his contract of work in O Media Co.Ltd in the late of 2017.

In early 2018, he moved to 995 Home, with the salary of USD 400 for the first three month (probation period). He worked as a Maintenance Manager. After his probation period, his salary was increased to USD 450 and later after seeing his excellent performance, it was increased further to USD 500.

Despite of his tight work schedule, Math never neglects his responsibility to his family. He helps his family financially and this make his family so proud of him.

Let’s come together and support this campaign so that we can have many more success stories like Math.

The Messenger of Allah ļ·ŗ said:

It is better for one among you to bring a load of firewood on his back and give charity out of it (and satisfy his own need) and be independent of people, than that he should beg from people, whether they give him anything or refuse him.

Verily the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin (charity) with your dependents.
